Mary Alice Purce-Cooper was born in Caroline County, Virginia to the late Fred and Mary Purce. She was the third of eight children. From her first marriage to Charles Dobbins a daughter, Arlene Dobbins was born and preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were three brothers, John Purce, Freddie Purce, Charles Purce and one sister, Julia Purce.
Mary was educated in the Caroline County school system. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church, Port Royal, Virginia at a early age, later she moved to New Jersey.
Known affectionately as "Tunie" she will be fondly remembered for her smile and the love she had for her family. She was a quiet and gracious lady, who stayed to herself; but inquired about the well being of other family members.
She leaves to cherish her memory two brothers and one sister, Farrish Purce of King George, VA, Marrell Purce of Colonial Beach, VA, and Selena Johnson of Clinton, Maryland, one brother-in-law Thomas Johnson and one sister-in-law Garnett. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Special thanks to the Medical Staff at Richmond Community Hospital and her nieces, Dorothy and Tywanda for the special care and compassion shown during Aunt Mary's illness.
